Dr. Peter Silverman
A professional journalist since 1974, Peter is internationally recognized, and a winner of 7 awards. He started at Global TV as a reporter covering a variety of beats: labor, Queen's Park, military and terrorism. He was also the host writer for Code 10-78, a half hour reconstruction of unsolved crimes. In 1981, Peter left Global to join the "CityNews" business segment CityBiz and became Ombudsman "Silverman Helps", in 1989. He is the author of Who Speaks for the Children Commemorating the International Year of the Child and wrote Voices of a Lost Generation, focusing on child welfare. Peter was also editor of Angola Story of a Revolt and one time editor of the Journal Race London England. Prior to being a journalist, Peter was a senior advertising executive in London, England and Toronto. He has also had experience as an entrepreneur, and was at one time the deputy director of the Institute of Race Relations, London. In 2008, he was appointed to the Order of Ontario.

While perusing a degree in Political Science, Nellie is also a unit President with the United Steelworker Union. Todd Ross

Todd Ross is the Director of Community Development and Partnerships at Casey House, Canada’s oldest free-standing HIV/AIDS hospice. Prior to Casey House, Todd has held senior positions in the Ontario government and has worked as a public affairs consultant specializing in Aboriginal Affairs, Energy, Environment, Finance and Health Care. Todd is very active in a number of community organizations including as a director for the Canadian Human Rights Voice. |

Raji Sivasubramaniyam

As volunteer in the community for more than 15 years, Mr. Sivasubramanium received many awards, including the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 for community service. He also advocated and initiated many local community programs, such as community centre based programs for St. James Town youths. Currently, Mr. Sivasubramanium is serving on the board of the Toronto Centre Provincial Liberal Association as Regional Vice President. |

Shano Thiya is a Bachelor of Science graduate who is currently seeking to further his studies in the medical research stream. He was the founder of the Grand River Hospital Emergency Department Nurse-Volunteer Committee. Shano currently works as a teaching assistant at the University of Waterloo. He was the former president of the University of Waterloo Young Liberals. Shano has been heavily involved in municipal, provincial and federal governance. He has been a long-time humanitarian involved in major organizations including the Canadian Red Cross and Amnesty International. His passion and desire has always been to be a force of change in society.
